Who is this website aimed at?
Target audience
Whether young or old, who has just started drawing (again), is more and more often on the Internet in search of help, sample images and tutorials. Since I myself have neither studied art nor otherwise learned professionally, the information on this page is aimed primarily at beginners.
I’m sure there are some helpful tips for more advanced drafters, but they’re more likely to find more help in the German-speaking forum.
The title of the page “learn to draw” is therefore program! Ultimately, you also only get further through regular practice.
Support
About financial support I am of course also happy, because the operation of a website causes monthly costs. Although I run this site privately and not to earn money with it, but if I can at least cover the costs, I am already more than satisfied.
For this reason you will find some book recommendations or material suggestions on this page. These are then marked with a *. With the purchase of one or more books or drawing utensils via this page you can therefore support them.
Submit your own tutorials
You can bring this page with your own instructions (along with example images) further. This is very welcome and allows the site to become more versatile. Of course tutorials from other authors will be marked accordingly.
Recommendation and feedback
I am always happy when my page is recommended (among friends or as a link on the Internet). A known page can help more than an unknown one.
Furthermore, I am always happy about feedback, especially if my page has helped further. For suggestions (wishes for new tutorials) or criticism (e.g. spelling mistakes) I am also open. Please send me an e-mail in this regard, so that I can deal with your request in peace.
The history of this site
One would like to learn more and know how to draw a person, an animal or a manga. For this reason, I have already started in early 2004 to build a website, which revolves around my favorite hobby. It was important to me to provide tips and instructions, primarily for beginners, free of charge, because at that time the websites on this subject were not yet very numerous.
So it happened that the free online drawing course grew more and more and one step by step tutorial after the other followed, as well as various tips and sample images.
My two trainings (the first one as an advertising designer, the second one as a media designer) brought me new insights, which could be transferred perfectly to drawing and painting. Thus, the topics of my training also flowed into my website, which is why it has not only remained at the drawing, but now also various information about designing can be found.
Who am I then?
I am a single private person, which is hardly supplied by other artists with tutorials for the site. Therefore, the topics of my site focus primarily on my preferences, which are also reflected in my individual drawing style.
But I’m also trying to get into new topics and will then share my findings with you. Seen in this way, I am also still in a learning phase, because hardly any artist can seriously claim that he does not need to learn more (standstill is regression, is such a nice quote).
In addition to this website, I have been running an art blog online-zeichenkurs.de since 2013, where I publish a weekly article about drawing, painting, design, or materials. Furthermore, since 2005, I have continuously operated one of the oldest German drawing forums zeichnen-forum.de. 😉
You can also follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or Youtube.
In this sense, I wish you a lot of fun learning to draw!
